AES Named to 14th ‘Fastest 100’ List

Published on 11/30/2004

The Sacramento Business Journal recently honored Analytical Environmental Services by naming the environmental consulting firm as one of the 100-Fastest-growing companies in the region. Actually, we are number 14 on the list ranked by percent of growth from 2001-2003.

The Business Journal has compiled the ‘Fastest 100’ list since 1994. They gather statistics and translate data into lists and charts that show the amount of growth by number of employees, revenue, revenue generated per employee, age of the company, gender of managers, company structure and profit margins. They also take into account how much startup capital these companies had which ranges from zero to tens of millions.

To qualify for the list a company must meet the following criteria:

  • The companies must have revenue of at least $200,000 in the base years of comparison. This is a new limit for 2004. In previous years, it was half that amount.
  • The company must have produced an increase in revenue from 2001 to 2002 and from 2002 to 2003.
  • The company must be headquartered in Sacramento, El Dorado, Placer or Yolo Counties and it must not be a subsidiary of another company.

Interestingly, more than half of the companies named to the list also appeared on the prior year’s list. The list includes well-known corporate entities such as Sutter Health, Lyon Real Estate and the Bank of Sacramento as well as smaller, less familiar names. Services and industries represented run the gamut from the highly technological to professional services, to retail and service industries.

David Zweig and Joe Broadhead, the firm’s two principals credit AES’ success to providing our clients with consistently superior service resulting in a high percentage of clients being repeat customers, and our specialized knowledge of the issues our clients face.

“AES’s technical staff includes land use planners, biologists, hydrologists, engineers, GIS specialists, and other professionals providing us with the capability to perform specialized studies and surveys, such as wetland delineations, biological and cultural resource assessments, as well as GIS mapping and analysis using in-house resources”, said Zweig. “We are grateful to our clients and, of course, to the Sacramento Business Journal for recognizing AES with this tribute”, stated Broadhead.
