SWRCB Grants Water Rights Extension for Langtry Farms
February 22, 2012

Langtry Farms, located on approximately 20,000 acres in Napa and Lake Counties, was granted a change of the place of use of irrigation water and extension of time on a long-standing water right permit after a protracted appeal process. AES had prepared an Environmental Impact Report in 2009 for the time extension and change. In 2009, the State Water Resources Control Board approved a change to the water rights permit which granted the expanded places of use but, largely on technical grounds, denied key increases in water diversions and storage. After a subsequent re-denial and appeal, AES assisted Langtry Farms in reaching protest dismissal terms with CA Department of Fish and Game, which was a critical prerequisite to the ultimate SWRCB extension approval. The approval will allow of an additional 1,600 acre-feet of water annually to be used on an additional 2,800 acres of vineyards.
