AES’s GHG Verification Team Has Been Re-Accredited by CARB
April 6, 2012

AES’s lead verifiers have been re-accredited by the California Air Resources Board (CARB) to conduct formal verifications of greenhouse gas emission reports as required under the recent amendments to the Regulation for the Mandatory Reporting of Greenhouse Gas Emissions, adopted to comply with Assembly Bill 32, the California Global Warming Solutions Act of 2006 (AB 32). At this time, AES is one of only a few Verification Bodies to receive authorization by CARB to conduct the verification process under the amended regulation. To date, fewer than half of the individuals seeking accreditation under the new regulations have been granted approval. The re-accredited AES verification body consists of two lead verifiers certified in General Combustion Emissions (including electrical generation) and Electrical Transactions. Within the amended regulation, facilities classified as “Electrical Transactions” now include suppliers of transportation fuels, natural gas, and CO2. Facilities, marketers, retail suppliers, and fuel transporters subject to amended mandatory reporting requirements will be required to have their 2011 greenhouse gas emissions verified under the amended regulation. Only CARB reaccredited verification bodies may provide verification services for the purposes of mandatory greenhouse gas emissions reporting under the amended regulation. AES’s verification body and staff accredited verifier listings can be viewed on the CARB website at: To request our services, please contact Trent Wilson or Ryan Lee at 916-447-3479.
