Coastside County Water District Approves Water Supply Project
February 11, 2015

Coastside Water EIRThe Coastside County Water District certified the Final Environmental Impact Report (EIR) on February 11, 2015 for the Denniston/San Vicente Water Supply Project to increase reliability of the District’s water supply. AES prepared the EIR for the project on behalf of the District in accordance with the requirements of the California Environmental Quality Act (CEQA). The project consists of various infrastructure and diversion facilities to optimize water diversions under the District’s existing water right permit. Key issues addressed by AES within the EIR include impacts to groundwater and groundwater recharge from increased surface water diversion, sensitive plant and wildlife species, wetlands, and instream resources. The District’s Board of Directors adopted findings that the EIR was prepared pursuant to the provisions of CEQA, all project impacts were successfully mitigated to less-than-significant levels, and the proposed project is the environmentally superior alternative. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2015-2016. The complete document is available here:
