Samish Draft EISThis Draft Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) was prepared pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) to address the potential environmental impacts of proposed federal actions, including placement of approximately 11.41 acres into federal trust status and issuing a reservation proclamation, intended to improve the long-term economic vitality and self-governance of the Samish Indian Nation (“Tribe”). The foreseeable consequence of the Proposed Action will be that the Tribe develops a casino facility on the trust property. The Proposed Project site is located in the City of Anacortes, Skagit County, Washington, south of State Route (SR-) 20 and east of Thompson Road. The EIS describes and analyzes the environmental consequences of four development alternatives (A, B, C, and D) and the No Action alternative (E). Mitigation measures have been identified where feasible to address specific effects.
